Protecting the Independent

Owner-Operator Model

For decades, the trucking industry has fought against efforts to squelch the independent owner-operator model.

However, on April 30, 2018, the California Supreme Court issued its decision in Dynamex Operations West v. Superior Court and departed from nearly 30 years of established California law.

Under this new ruling, the right of hundreds of California truck drivers who choose to work as an independent owner-operator is at risk!

Learn more about our efforts to protect the owner-operator model, and ensure small businesses have a right to exist.

ABOUT

ABOUT

Trucking plays a critical role in California’s economy, with more than $2 billion in transportation-related revenue each year.

Nearly 80 percent of California communities depend exclusively on trucking to get the things they need most. Delivering the vast majority of everyday items -- food, health care supplies, furniture, fuel and transportation, water removal and so much more – trucking is critical to the California economy, to businesses, to schools, to families.

With individual owner-operators, small family businesses and large international carriers, trucking fuels the California economy and keeps our daily life moving forward.
